FireProtect 2 detects smoke and does not react to water vapour, thanks to the bispectral optical sensor with blue and infrared LEDs. The LEDs emit light at different wavelengths, enabling the sensor to detect the size of volatile particles and only react to smoke.
The smoke chamber of the sensor is protected from dust, dirt and insects. Even if dust enters and settles in the smoke chamber it does not threaten or compromise detection. The optical system is designed in such a way that nonvolatile particles or insects cannot fall into both beams at the same time and cause a false alarm.
Two integrated thermistors are responsible for the response to a temperature rise. The thermistors are located on the outside of the sensor for faster detection of threats.
If the room temperature exceeds 64°C or rises at a rate of 10°C per minute, the sensor recognises this as a rapid temperature rise and triggers an alarm. A temperature alarm can be triggered even if there is no smoke in the room.
Carbon monoxide alarm detection
A built-in chemical sensor with an operating time of 10 years is responsible for detecting dangerous concentrations of carbon monoxide in FireProtect 2.
Carbon Monoxide (CO) is a colourless, odourless and tasteless gas that is produced by incomplete combustion in vehicle engines and heating appliances that run on coal or other natural fuels. For example, it may originate from fireplaces, boilers or heating systems. In sealed or enclosed spaces with poor ventilation, life-threatening concentrations of carbon monoxide can build up.
Synchronised fire detector alarm
The detector supports synchronised fire alarms. This function activates the build-in sirens of all Ajax fire detectors in the system when at least one is triggered. In the event of a fire, this allows you to alert as many people on the site as possible.
FireProtect 2 detectors have an advanced synchronised alarm operation algorithm that activates the sirens of all fire detectors within 20 seconds. The function only works when the sensors are operating with a hub.
Operation without a hub
FireProtect 2 detectors can be used without connecting to the Ajax hub. In this case, the sensor notifies of fire alarms with a built-in siren and LED indication, but does not send notifications to the user's smartphone, Ajax Translator, or PRO Desktop.
Manual and automatic testing
FireProtect 2 regularly checks the status of the batteries and sensors. If a fault is detected, the hub will instantly send a notification to users and the monitoring desk. And the sensor itself will activate a corresponding light and sound alert with an integrated siren and LEDs. All sensor statuses can be checked with Ajax applications at any time.
The sensor supports manual test mode. The mode is activated by pressing on the front panel of the sensor. The front panel is equipped with a mechanical button, so it can be pressed either by hand or with a mop. During the test, the built-in siren and sensor test are triggered. This allows the installation engineer to test the unit at any time as well as demonstrating to the customer the sensor light and sound indication of different
types of alarms.
Jeweller communication technology
Jeweller is a radio protocol for fast and reliable two-way communication between the hub and the connected devices. The protocol provides a wireless communication range of up to 1,700 metres with FireProtect 2. This communication range allows sensors to be installed even in very large objects.
Jeweller is responsible for the transmission of alarms and events. The radio protocol also enables synchronous alarm activation of fire detectors within 20 seconds in a system with any number of FireProtect 2. With Jeweller, users and the monitoring desk can always see the current status of the sensors in Ajax applications.
Quick installation and connection
No need to dismantle the detector housing to install the FireProtect 2. Replaceable or non-replaceable batteries are preinstalled, and the SmartBracket can be removed from the sensor without tools. The SmartBracket mounting plate has a 90° degree of freedom. This allows the installation engineer to adjust the sensor position after
mounting.
The sensor is connected to the Ajax security system in less than a minute. Simply open the Ajax app, scan the QR code and add the unit to the room and security group.
